Pools can be a great recreationally add-on to any home but pools aren't always easy to deal with. They come with many Pros & Cons that either turn home buyers on or completely off to a house even if it's in their price range. But why do so many people automatically say No Way to Pools?
Con: Pools can take a lot of time and money if not managed right.
Pools cost money to run, fill, clean as well as open and close. Some really don't think that it's worth the money it takes. If you're not hiring a pool company to do these tasks, then it doesn't just take money it takes your time. For the amount of time we in Ontario can use a pool, people find it to be an unnecessary add on.
Pro: Pools are a great way for you or your kids to stay active
Keeping active can be difficult in a world like ours. With work, kids and now with staying distant from people it's hard to fit in time to exercise. A pool gives you a great reason to get out there, It's only in your back yard!
Con: Safety risk
Safety, especially with kids, pets and other animals can be a big condition when considering a pool. Luckily, keeping your family safe and animals out of your pool isn't a difficult task. having a locked gate around your pool, covering it when not in use and teaching your children pool safety is the best way to keep everyone safe!
Pro: Cools you down on overly hot days
Summer Days in Ontario can get pretty hot! If you have trouble keeping cool but hate air conditioning, a pool could be a great choice. Keeping cool makes a hot day feel way better! Just don't forget your sunscreen!
Con: Added value or desire for your home may not be high.
Again, Living in Southern Ontario, Pools aren't as popular as they are in a place like Florida. Old pools can come with many problems if not taken care of properly and that can lead to potential buyers passing over your home for other similar homes with out pools.
Pro: Great for parties and family gatherings
Pools make a great place for catching up with friends and family. Having an activity to share can really boost the fun!
Luckily, in the end, it is totally your decision! If you think a home with a pool would be an awesome addition for your family, go for it! Sure, there are challenges. but as long as you take it step by step you will have no problem with your pool!
